On January 23, 2024, California State Parks requested assistance from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office with an investigation near La Jolla Canyon Trail. A deputy from the Camarillo station responded and determined Sean Briseno, a convicted felon, was in possession of a loaded and operable P-80 firearm while under the influence of a controlled substance. Briseno also was in possession of a significant quantity of methamphetamine and indicia of narcotics sales.
