The Crime and Traffic dashboard provides information about crimes and traffic accidents reported to the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office received CA DOJ National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) Certification in 2024. Due to the change in reporting methods, historical crime data (prior to 2024) will be displayed using the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) standards. These crimes include Homicide, Robbery, Rape, Aggravated Assault, Residential Burglary, Commercial Burglary, Grand Theft, Petty Theft, Motor Vehicle Theft, and Arson. After 2024, the data will be displayed using the NIBRS reporting methods. The interactive dashboards allow users to search specified time periods, crime types, and jurisdictions. It also allows for the comparison of crimes across jurisdictions patrolled by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office is responsible for conducting traffic accident investigations within the incorporated boundaries of our five contract cities. Traffic enforcement and investigation in the unincorporated areas is the responsibility of the California Highway Patrol. This dashboard allows for searches and comparisons of traffic collisions and citations issued within the incorporated contract cities.
