On January 4, 2024, at about 12:20 pm, Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputies successfully captured George “Rand” Akrey, a fugitive that had been on the run for about two years. Akrey was wanted for a previous assault with a deadly weapon charge in which he rammed a detective vehicle, injuring the detective. During his arrest, Akrey again attempted to escape by repeatedly ramming police vehicles with his truck within the city of Woodland Hills. Keirstyn Robinson was also arrested for aiding a known fugitive to prevent his capture.
